Women's Swimming Receives Votes in Latest Poll

PULLMAN, Wash. - The Washington State University swim team is receiving votes in the latest College Swimming Coaches Association of America poll. Seven of the Pac-10's eight schools with women's swimming programs are either ranked or receiving votes in the poll released Feb. 16.
Georgia and Stanford sit atop the rankings with 12 first-place votes apiece. Arizona received two first-place nods but fell two spots and is currently ranked fourth in the nation. California (5) and USC (9) are the other two ranked opponents the Cougars will face next week at the Pac-10 Championships in Long Beach, Calif.
The 2009-10 team has been led by senior Michaela Ahlin and juniors Rugile Mileisyte and Talor Whitaker. Ahlin has met NCAA 'B' standards in the 100 butterfly, 200 butterfly, 200 freestyle and 400 individual medley. Mileisyte has qualified in the 100 backstroke while Whitaker met the standard in the 200 individual medley with a school-record time of 2:00.89.
