Women's Tennis Downs Cal Poly, 6-1

LOS ANGELES - The fourth-ranked UCLA women's tennis team moved to 9-1 on the season on Sunday, taking down Cal Poly, 6-1 at the Los Angeles Tennis Center.

Junior Noelle Hickey, the 48th-ranked player in the country, turned in a dominant performance in her first match at the top singles spot on Sunday, as she beat No. 120 Brittany Blalock, 6-1, 6-1. The Bruins also had straight-set victories from Pamela Montez, Maya Johansson, Nina Pantic and Stephanie Hoffpauir.

Cal Poly's lone point on the day came at court No. 2, where Suzie Matzenauer upset 43rd-ranked Andrea Remynse, 6-2, 7-6.

UCLA nabbed the doubles point on Sunday when Hoffpauir and Johansson Edged Diane Filip and Ashley Pane, 8-6 at court No. 3.

The Bruins have their toughest home weekend of the season coming up next week, as No. 11 Stanford and No. 3 Cal visit the LATC on Friday and Saturday. UCLA's match with Stanford will be on Friday at 1:30 p.m.
