Stanford's Fields Named Pac-10 Men's Basketball Player of the Week

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. -- Commissioner Larry Scott announced today that STANFORD senior forward Landry Fields has been named the Pac-10 Men’s Basketball Player of the Week for Feb. 15-21.
Fields, who hails from Long Beach, Calif., led the Cardinal to its first two road victories of the season, earning a sweep of Oregon and Oregon State. For the weekend, Fields played in all 80 minutes averaging 18.5 points on 12-for-25 (48 percent) shooting from the floor, 8.5 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 2.5 steals.
In Thursday’s 72-65 win over the Ducks, Fields led all scorers with 21 points on 7-for-14 (50 percent) shooting from the field. For Fields, it was his 18th 20-point game of the season. He also contributed six rebounds. In Saturday’s 65-55 victory over the Beavers, the senior forward tallied his Pac-10 leading 11th double-double of the season, finishing with 16 points and 11 rebounds. Fields also matched career-highs in assists (6) and blocked shots (3).
For the season, Fields ranks among the Pac-10 leaders in many statistical categories including leading the Conference in scoring (22.2 ppg) and minutes played (36.0 mpg), second in rebounding (9.8 rpg), fifth in steals (1.67 spg) and ninth in blocks (0.81 bpg). His mark in scoring ranks seventh in the country.
This is the second weekly honor for Fields this season and Stanford’s 44th all-time Player of the Week.
