Women's Basketball's `Pink Zone' A Success
Feb. 24, 2010
CORVALLIS, Ore. - The Oregon State women's basketball team hosted its annual 'Pink Zone' game on Feb. 13 against Arizona, sponsored by Corvallis Clinic's Project H.E.R.
Less than two weeks later, the numbers are in and it's clear the event was a success.
Between sales by Beaver Authentics and Sodexo, The Rebounders Pre-Game Event and Silent Auction, and a contribution from head coach LaVonda Wagner, Oregon State will be submitting $5,000 to the Kay Yow/WBCA Cancer Fund.
'I would like to thank Beaver Nation for their participation in our `Pink Zone' event,' Wagner said. 'It was very successful. We were able to raise funds for cancer research, and it was also a very good basketball game. We want to continue to do our part to find a cure for this tragic disease.'
The event marked the third consecutive year Oregon State has hosted a 'pink' game to help find a cure for cancer in cooperation with the Kay Yow/WBCA Cancer Fund.
Oregon State returns home this week to host the Los Angeles schools, with UCLA first on the slate Thursday night. That game starts at 7 p.m. PT time at legendary Gill Coliseum. The team's seniors - Anita Burdick, Julie Futch and Stacey Nichols - will sign autographs after the game.
Tickets are still available for the game. Reserved tickets for individual women's basketball games are $10, while general admission for adults is $7 and senior/youth is $5.
Single-game and season tickets are available by visiting osubeavers.com, calling 1-800-GO-BEAVS or by visiting the ticket office at Gill Coliseum.
For those fans who can't make it to Gill, catch the game live on the radio by tuning into KLOO 1340-AM in Corvallis. It can also be heard live on the Internet by visiting Beaver Nation Online (osubeavers.com). Ron Callan will call all the action.
