STANFORD, Calif.- Tonight's men's basketball game against Arizona State at 7 p.m. can be seen live on www.gostanford.com, as a webcast is available for All-Access subscribers. Having won back-to-back games for the fifth time this year, Stanford (13-14, 7-8 Pac-10) closes out the year with three home games.
After sweeping last week's road trip against the Oregon schools, Stanford is just one game below .500 overall and with a few breaks along the way, a share of the league title remains a possibility.
Tabbed seventh in this year's Pac-10 preseason media poll, Arizona State is 19-8 overall and 9-5 in the Pac-10. The Sun Devils are in second place and figure to be an at-large candidate for some type of postseason berth. Arizona State has won three straight following a 73-69 win at Arizona over the weekend and is looking for its fourth four-game winning streak of the season.
Stanford holds a 38-29 edge over Arizona State in the all-time series, which originated back in 1957. The Cardinal has dominated this matchup, winning six of the last nine and 19 of the last 24 contests overall dating back to 1998. The Sun Devils posted an 88-70 win back on Jan. 30 in Tempe, building a 37-point first-half lead that eventually was cut down to 12 in the second half. The meetings were split in 2008-09.
