Bruins Tied for Second in Bruin Wave Invitational

The top-ranked UCLA women's golf team began the opening round of the first Bruin Wave Invitational in a tie for second place at Robinson Ranch Golf Club.

The Bruins posted a team score of 286 (-2) and trailed first round front-runner Arizona by three shots. The Wildcats posted a team score of 283 (-5). The Bruins were tied with USC and were trailed by Pepperdine at 288 (E). Stanford and Washington were tied for fifth at 292 (+4).

Individually for the Bruins sophomore Stephanie Kono was tied for seventh place in her first tournament of the spring season. Kono posted a first round score of 70 (-2). Three Bruins were tied for 11th at even par 72: senior Sydnee Michaels, junior Glory Yang and freshman Tiffany Lua. Sophomore Brianna Do was tied for 19th place after signing for a score of 73 (+1).

The Bruins also entered two individuals, junior Lalita Boonnoppornkul and freshman Stacy Kim. Boonnoppornkul was tied for 19th place after posting a 73 (+1) and Kim was tied for 91st.

Pepperdine's Danielle Kang and Washington's Molly Aronsson shared the first round lead after posting opening round scores of 67 (-5).

Second round action begins at 8 a.m. PST on Tuesday from the first and 10th tees.
