Jasmine Dixon Named UCLA/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week
March 1, 2010
Sophomore forward Jasmine Dixon (Long Beach, CA/Long Beach Poly HS) of the UCLA women's basketball team was selected as the UCLA/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week for Feb. 22-28.
Dixon, the Pac-10 Player of the Week, helped lead the Bruins to a pair of wins at the Oregon schools, giving UCLA victories in 10 of its last 11 games. Her 31-point/20-rebound game (both career highs) at Oregon was just the second in UCLA women's history and the first since Natalie Williams had 32 points/25 rebounds vs. Arizona State 16 years ago. Dixon was limited in action thanks to foul trouble against Oregon State yet still scored 17 points in only 16 minutes. For the week, she averaged 24.0 points and 11.5 rebounds per game, while shooting 70.4 percent from the field and adding 3.5 steals per game. Dixon leads the team in scoring average (15.4), rebounding average (7.9) and steals per game (2.4) and has made 37 of her last 56 shots from the field (66.1%). UCLA is 16-4 in the 20 games in which Dixon has played this season.
This is Dixon's second UCLA/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week honor of the season and of her career.
