Stanford Tied for Fifth After First Round of Bruin-Wave Invitational

SANTA CLARITAStanford shot an opening round 292 (+4) and is tied with Washington after the first 18 holes of the Bruin-Wave Invitational being held at the Robinson Ranch Golf Club in Santa Clarita.

Stanford trails first place Arizona by nine shots after the Wildcats turned in an opening round 282 today. UCLA and USC are tied for second at 286 while Pepperdine holds down fourth plae after carding a 288 today.

Stanford was paced today by Rebecca Durham, who shot a two-under 70, a round that featured an eagle on the par-4 second hole. She also collected birdies on the par-5 fourth and par-3 11th holes.

Durham is tied for seventh, three strokes off the pace set by co-leaders Molly Aronsson of Washington and Daniella Kang of Pepperdine, as both players turned in five-under rounds of 67.

Sophomore Sydney Burlison, playing as an individual, carded an opening round one-over 73 and finds herself tied for 19th place after the first round. Burlison had three birdies on her card today but was victimized by two bogies and one double bogey.

Angela King and Sally Watson are tied for 19th after both players carded one-over rounds of 73 today.

Kristina Wong shot a four-over 76 and is tied for 46th.

Lila Barton is tied for 81st after opening with an 82.

The tournament continues tomorrow and Wednesday at Robinson Ranch.
