California Heads Down to San Jose for Tri-Meet

The California Golden Bears compete in the second of three straight Northern California meet, heading to San Jose for a tri-meet on Friday, March 5. The first rotation begins at 7:00 p.m.
It is also the second consecutive meet that the Bears will face off against the Stanford Cardinal. The meet host, San Jose State, is also a familiar foe as they participated in Cal's home tri meet on Jan. 22.
Last Week: Stanford Quad Meet California finished fourth at the quad meet, posting a season-low 188.825 team score.
All-Around Freshman Madisyn O'Brien, the Bears top all-arounder of the season, was held to competing in just one event after spraining her ankle earleir in the week. Junior Avery Gee was Cal's lone all-arounder. Gee posted her season best score, a 38.350. She finished sixth in the all-around.
Vault Freshman Chelsea Spomer, in her first competition of her collegiate career, tied for Cal's best score on the vault. She and Avery Gee each earned a 9.625. The 9.625 was a season-best mark for Gee.
Beam The Beam was the lowest scoring event of the meet for the Bears. Avery Gee had the top mark with a 9.625.
Floor For the fourth consecutive meet, the floor was Cal's strongest event. Junior Avery Gee earned the top mark of the meet for any Cal gymnast in any event, scoring a 9.825 for her routine. It was Cal's second 9.825 of the season in any event. Sophia Hocini earned a 9.825 for her vault at Arizona in her final meet of the season.
Next Up - Sunday, March 14, Cal at UC Davis The Golden Bears compete in the final of three consecutive Northern California meets, heading out to a tri-meet hosted by the UC Davis Aggies. Cal will also compete against TWU.
