Senior Spotlight: Ashley Frazier

March 2, 2010

No player in Arizona history has played more minutes in a season than senior point guard Ashley Frazier, who set school records with 1,229 total minutes logged for an average of 39.6 per game last season. She has started all 58 games of her Arizona career, tallying 310 points and 188 assists. Frazier recently sat down for a look back over her time with the Wildcats and what she expects moving forward.

How special was Senior Day for you, having the chance to be recognized in front of the home fans?
'It felt really good to have everyone acknowledge me and what I've done for the team and the program. I almost cried, but I tried not to because I was trying to focus on the game. If I had cried, it just wouldn't have been good. It was special to me to get my poster (with a framed jersey).

What is your legacy going to be when people talk about the impact you've had on the program?
'I hope they would say that I was a hard worker, day in and day out, and a good role model and a good leader for my team.'

What do you want the present and future Wildcats to learn from what you displayed?
'I just want them to work hard everyday. If you work hard, then you are going to succeed. You're going to be successful if you work hard everyday.'

What's one of the memorable moments from the season that was a highlight for you, whether on or off the floor?
'There are a lot to choose from. I'd say one of the best memories was on our Bay Area trip, Coach Darling left the restaurant and she tried to run back to the hotel. She got tired and winded pretty fast and she couldn't go anymore, so we had to pick her up at the stoplight. That was pretty funny.'

What are you hoping to accomplish in the last few games of the regular season and into the Pac-10 Tournament?
'First thing is to get these two wins, and then win the Pac-10 Tournament. I really want the team to play hard and give it our all in these last two games that we have.'

What does the future hold for you?
'I'm not quite sure yet. I'm looking into going overseas to keep playing basketball. I would also like to either do something with my communications degree or go into coaching. Hopefully it will be something out of those three things.'
