No. 10 Stanford Upsets No. 3 Florida, 2-0

FULLERTON, Calif. - The Stanford softball team handed third-ranked Florida its second loss of the season, Friday, at the DeMarini Invitational in Fullerton, Calif. The Cardinal climbs to 13-2 with the 2-0 shutout of the Gators. Florida drops to 13-2 with the loss.
Freshman pitcher Teagan Gerhart improved to 8-1 on the year with the win. She stuck out five batters, while walking one and allowing just two hits.
Freshman Jenna Rich led the offense with two hits and two RBI, while Stanford out hit Florida 5-2.
Stanford got on the board first, scoring one run in the bottom of the third inning. Sophomore Sarah Hassman was hit by Florida pitcher Stephanie Brombacher to take first base for the Cardinal. Second baseman Ashley Hansen moved Hassman to second with a single to second base. Freshman Jenna Rich brought Hassman home with an RBI single to left field for the early 1-0 lead.
The Cardinal increased its lead to 2-0 in the bottom of the fifth inning. Rich blasted a solo shot over the left field wall to register her fourth home run of the season.
Stanford will take on host Cal State Fullerton in its second game of Friday's double-header at the DeMarini Invitational.
