Women's Golf Readies for UNLV Spring Invitational
March 6, 2010
CORVALLIS - The Oregon State women's golf team travels to Boulder City, Nev. this week to compete at the UNLV Spring Invitational, Mar. 8-10.
The tournament will be played at the Boulder Creek Golf Club, a par-72, 6,256-yard course. It is a three-day, 54-hole tournament consisting of three 18-hole rounds with one round played each day. The first round begins at 7:30 a.m. with tee times off of the first and 10th holes.
'This golf course is similar to what we just played, which is helpful but we'll probably be facing a little more wind in Las Vegas,' head coach Ris¸ Lakowske said. 'What we've been looking for in practice this week are improvements on specific shots that can be problematic, and working on hitting low shots to counter the wind. Also bunkers are an area where we are having a bit of trouble, so we're working on that as well.'
The 18-team field consists of Ball State, Baylor, BYU, Campbell, Idaho, Missouri, Nebraska, New Mexico State, Oregon State, Portland State, Texas, Texas State, Texas Tech, Tulsa, UNLV, Washington State, Wisconsin and Wyoming.
Five golfers will play for the Beavers with four players counting toward the team score in each round. Seniors Lauren Archer and Brittany Stewart, junior Kristina Gargaro and sophomores Whitney French and Elyse Okada will represent the Orange and Black.
Live scoring will be available at www.golfstat.com throughout the tournament.
