Estrada And Shaw Impress At Washington Last Chance Meet

March 8, 2010

USC's Brandon Estrada won the men's pole vault and Blake Shaw placed fifth in the men's one-mile run at the Washington Last Chance indoor meet held at Dempsey Indoor in Seattle, Wash. on March. 6.

Estrada won the pole vault by clearing 18-0.5 feet (5.50m) to establish a new PR and tie for the third-highest indoor vault this season. He qualified for the NCAA Indoor Championships to be held March 12-13 in Fayetteville, Ark.

Shaw ran a 3:59.85 one-mile race to take fifth at the Washington Last Chance Meet, the third-best time by a college runner in the meet. His time puts him 21st on the NCAA decending order list and qualifies him for the NCAA Indoor Championships. It is also believed to be the fastest one-mile time ever by a Trojan either indoor or outdoor. Irek Sekretarski holds the school outdoor mark at 4:01.89.

Brysun Stately competed in the women's pole vault, but no-heighted. She earned NCAA Indoor All-America honors in 2007 while at Nebraska and is a four-time All-American.
