SEATTLE - The No. 1 Washington softball team will make its home debut this weekend when it hosts the annual Husky Softball Classic, an event which features the first-ever night game in Husky Softball Stadium history.

The Huskies (17-1) kick off the tournament with their home opener on Thursday, March 11 against Miami of Ohio at 5 p.m., when the lights will go on for competition for the first time. The Huskies will play another night game on Friday at 6 p.m. against Miami before a doubleheader on Saturday against Portland State and Seattle U at 3:30 and 6 p.m. UW wraps up play on Sunday against Seattle at 1 p.m.

UW is riding a 12-game winning streak and coming off a 5-0 record to win the Bank of Hawaii Invitational in Honolulu. Danielle Lawrie, who is 12-0 this season, was named tournament MVP after winning three games - two via shutout - and leading the team with eight RBI.
