Caldwell Joins AP Poll Coaching Club

With UCLA's entry into the Associated Press women's basketball poll this week at No. 23, Bruin head coach Nikki Caldwell, a former player at Tennessee, became the 29th woman to coach and play for teams ranked in the poll.
Caldwell was a guard during her playing days at Tennessee (1991-94) when the Lady Vols compiled a 118-13 record. Tennessee captured the NCAA championship during her freshman season of 1990-91. Caldwell still ranks among the all-time leaders at Tennessee in three-point field goals made and attempted. She was named to the Southeastern Conference's (SEC) All-Freshman team in 1991.
Coach Caldwell's Bruins have posted a 22-7 record this season and captured wins in 12 of the last 13 games. UCLA will open up play in the Pac-10 Tournament on Friday, March 12 at 7:15 p.m. against the winner of the Washington - Oregon State game. The confernce tournament is being held at the Galen Center.
