UA Baseball Delayed By Rain

March 9, 2010

TUCSON, Ariz. - The Arizona baseball game scheduled for a 5 p.m. start this evening at Kindall Field/Sancet Stadium against Saint Joseph's is currently delayed by rain.

Light showers began to fall about 3:45 p.m. while Saint Joseph's was taking batting practice. The tarp was placed over the infield at 3:50 p.m. and showers continued over the next half hou to 45 minutes.

The teams are waiting out the rain and hope to begin the game this evening at a time to be determined once showers clear out and the tarp is removed. The status of the game will be based on field conditions.

Stay tuned for updates on the status of this evening's game. Should the game not be started this evening, the teams would play a doubleheader on Wednesday.

Earlier this season, UA's Feb. 20 game against Utah Valley was postponed due to rain. The Wildcats played a doubleheader the next day, winning both games.

Rain also cancelled the third game of the Long Beach State series on Feb. 28. Last weekend, UA completed its three-game series against Cal State Fullerton on Sunday, minutes before a drenching storm system came through the Tucson area.
