PULLMAN, Wash. - Eight student-athletes have each signed a National Letter of Intent to play soccer at Washington State University beginning next fall, Cougar Head Coach Matt Potter announced, Wednesday.

The signees include forward Micaela Castain (Castro Valley, Calif.), midfielder Morgan Castain (Castro Valley, Calif.), goalkeeper Gurveen Clair (Surrey, British Columbia), defender Amanda Heins (San Ramon, Calif.), midfielder Eileen Maes (Oakland, Calif.), forward Danielle Parker (Alta Loma, Calif.), forward Roslyn Pontius (Hillsborough, Calif.) and forward Katie Turney (Surrey, British Columbia). In addition, defender Lindsay Stoll (Seattle), forward Kerry Moller (Moscow, Idaho) and defender Delaney Zalud (Spokane, Wash.) have each been invited to the program as a walk-on.

'Credit my staff and the people behind the scenes in our department,' WSU Head Coach Matt Potter said. 'We have all succeeded in putting together another strong recruiting class which will allow us to continue to grow as a program. We have lost what many believe is an influential group, but we have responded by recruiting the personalities that can continue the momentum and direction of our program. We are in a great position to extend our run of postseason appearances.

'This class has great athleticism and has addressed areas of our team that will not only provide us depth and competition at a variety of positions, but will also give us options that cement our team and program as a top 25 team. Each student-athlete has the personality and ability to influence our selection process and as we gel the group together I am delighted in the direction our team is headed.

'However potential is one thing, performing is now down to the commitment, work ethic and desire of this group and, if the efforts of our current group of returnees is anything to go by, we are in great shape for the upcoming fall.'

Kerry Moller: 'A local product who has tireless energy and ability to get up and down the field. She has the technical ability to connect and serve from wide areas and will give us another option as we look toward the season.'

Lindsay Stoll: 'Lindsay is an out and out traditional centerback with an outstanding defensive tactical understanding of the game. She will bring depth to our rearguard, as a no-nonsense defender, who is strong in the air and tough in the tackle.'

Delaney Zalud: 'She is an Eastern Washington native who has a tremendous work ethic and a sound technical game. She has great versatility and will complement our team whether in the midfield or the back.'
