Rittenhouse, Ishimatsu Go 1-2 On 1-Meter At Zone E Championships
March 11, 2010
Freshman Ariel Rittenhouse and sophomore Victoria Ishimatsu finished first and second, respectively, on the 1-meter springboard on Thursday (March 11) at the 2010 Zone E Championships in Austin, Texas.
The 1-2 finish assures both divers of qualifying for the 2010 NCAA Championships next week at Purdue.
Rittenhouse won the 1-meter with 622.05 points, edging Ishimatsu's 604.30. Sophomore Michela Fossati-Bellani was 35th (219.95). The top 18 divers in prelims make the final round. Prelim scores are then added to the final scores to determine the results.
USC sophomore Harrison Jones was fourth on 3-meter with 772.50 points, putting him in very good position to qualify for the NCAAs. However, he still has two events remaining.
Both Ishimatsu and Jones were All-Americans in 2009 and both were 2010 Pac-10 champions.
