Cal Baseball Defeats No. 9 Rice, 6-4

HOUSTON, TEXAS - Bolstered by a complete game from freshman left-hander Justin Jones and clutch hitting from Brian Guinn, Mark Canha and Chadd Krist, the California baseball team defeated No. 9 Rice for the second night in a row, topping the Owls, 6-4, Friday night at Reckling Park in Houston. The Golden Bears, who held on for an 8-6 win yesterday, improved to 9-3. The Owls dropped to 8-7.

Jones, who was a seventh round picked of the Chicago White Sox out of Oakdale High School, limited Rice to four runs on six hits with four walks and five strikeouts.
