Bauer duplicated right-hander Gerrit Cole's 15-strikeout effort from the night before in UCLA's 11-3 victory over Texas A&M Corpus Christi. The sophomore from Valencia, Calif., walked two batters did not allow any runs until the ninth inning. Bauer improved to 9-0 as a starting pitcher (career).

With the victory, UCLA improved to 12-0, the Bruins' best start to any season in the modern era (dating to 1955). The team's current 12-game winning streak is UCLA's longest since winning 13 straight games in 1969.

UCLA broke through in the non-conference affair with a four-run sixth inning after having led 1-0 since the bottom of the first. Designated hitter Blair Dunlap led the Bruins at the plate, going 2-for-4 with a game-high two runs. Dunlap reached base safely in three of four plate appearances.

Bruins' right fielder Brett Krill went 1-for-4 with a team-leading two RBI. Left fielder Cody Keefer went 1-for-1 with three walks, one run and one RBI.

Mississippi State right-hander Chris Stratton (2-2) absorbed the loss, allowing five runs (three earned) and five hits in 5.1 innings as the Bulldogs' starter. Right-hander Caleb Reed allowed one hit and notched three strikeouts in 2.2 innings of relief. Stratton and Reed combined to limit the Bruins to a season-low six hits.

First baseman Connor Powers led Mississippi State (9-5) at the plate with a 2-for-4 effort and one double.

UCLA scored one run in the bottom of the first inning on an infield single deep behind second base by Keefer, scoring Dunlap from third.

The Bruins' four-run sixth inning pushed their lead to 5-0. With one out and the bases loaded, Krill laced a two-run single through the left side, sending home Dunlap and second baseman Tyler Rahmatulla as Keefer moved from first base to third. Keefer scored on a wild pitch, and Krill came home when third baseman Dean Espy grounded into a fielder's choice.

Mississippi State scored its two runs in the top of the ninth inning. Left fielder Luke Adkins drew a leadoff walk, stole second base and scored on a double to right field by right fielder Ryan Collins. After moving to third on groundout, Collins scored on a single through the right side of the infield.
