Freshman T.J. Vogel registered his second consecutive second-place finish to lead the No. 15 USC men's golf team to a tie for third at the 2010 Southern Highlands Collegiate Masters at the Southern Highlands G.C. in Las Vegas on Sunday (March 14).

USC, which entered the final round in fourth, finished tied for third with Texas A&M at 44-over 908 (296-307-305). Host UNLV and UCLA tied for first at 899. Nine teams finished at 50-over or worse, including No. 1 Oklahoma State (+68), No. 4 Texas (+55) and No. 6 Florida (+73).

Vogel, second at the USC Collegiate Invitational more than a week ago, tied for second at 4-over 220 (71-72-77). He was angling for his first collegiate win before giving up strokes late in the course. As it is, his back-to-back ties for second are the top two finishes for USC this season.

Freshman Stewart Hagestad posted a career-best tie for 21st at 13-over 229 (75-79-75). Freshman Martin Trainer tied for 31st at 16-over 232 (72-78-82), sophomore Steve Lim tied for 37th at 18-over 234 (78-78-78) and junior Matt Giles tied for 43rd at 20-over 236 (82-79-75).
