Washington and California Head Into NCAA Tournament Action

WALNUT CREEK, CALIF. -- Washington, the Pacific Life Pac-10 Tournament champion, received the league's automatic bid for this year's NCAA Tournament and will be the No. 11 seed in the East Region. The Huskies will meet No. 6 seed Marquette on Thursday, March 18 in San Jose, Calif.

California, the Pac-10 regular season champion, grabbed an at-large bid and will be the No. 8 seed in the South Region. The Golden Bears will meet No. 9 seed Louisville on Friday, March 19 in Jacksonville, Fla.

California is making its 16th NCAA Tournament appearance and has an overall record of 18-15, including the 1959 NCAA title. Washington is 15-15 overall in NCAA Tournament play and is making its 15th NCAA Tournament appearance.
