UWTV To Broadcast Eight Softball Games Live In 2010

SEATTLE - The University of Washington campus television station UWTV and UW Athletics willtelevise eight of the defending NCAA champion Husky softball team's games this season, all against competition from the nation's top softball league - the Pacific-10 Conference.
UWTV will televise the Friday and Saturday games from the UCLA (April 2 & 3), Arizona (April 10 & 11), Oregon State (May 1 & 2) and Stanford (May 8 & 9) series live from Husky Softball Stadium. Additionally, the games will be replayed several times on UWTV. A full schedule is available at uwtv.org/softball.
Former UW All-America softball players Angie Mentink and Dena Tyson will serve as commentators for the broadcasts, which will be available as live broadcasts throughout the state of Washington on UWTV as well as on the UW's official athletic website - GoHuskies.com.
An exciting preview to the games premieres this Tuesday, March 23, at 6 p.m. on UWTV. 'Husky Softball: A Championship Journey' features interviews with standout players and head coach Heather Tarr as they look back at the 2009 season which brought home their first ever National Championship.
The UW softball team is currently the unanimous number one ranked team in the national USA Today/NFCA Division I Top 25 Poll. Including Washington, four of the five teams featured in the upcoming live games on UWTV are ranked in the top 10. Arizona is ranked second, UCLA is fifth and Stanford sits in 10th. Five of the top 10 teams and six of the top 13 are from the Pac-10 Conference.
