Spring Football Preview - Tight End/H-Back

March 24, 2010

When you look at the overall depth on offense, the numbers are impressive; 10 returning starters and 30 overall lettermen are back for the 2010 season. Two of those starters and four of those lettermen are at the Beavers' tight end and H-back positions.

Often offensive coordinator Danny Langsdorf lines the Beavers up to open the game with both the tight end and H-back, thus providing extra blocking and another wrinkle for opposing defenses to contend with.

Senior Brady Camp is the veteran tight end that will take the first turns this fall. Camp has 18 starts and has developed into more of an offensive threat. Sophomore Colby Prince, a local product from nearby Albany, has added tremendous strength during his brief stint at OSU and appears to be the heir apparent to Camp's position.

At H-back junior Joe Halahuni has become a big offensive weapon. Halahuni caught 35 passes last season, most in the latter half of the year, and proved to be a load to bring down. He quickly got the reputation as a player who 'runs downhill.' Senior John Reese returns after redshirting last season to also play a part at the position.

It has been a busy offseason for this group with their first full-team on the field workout set for Mon., March 29 with the initial day of spring practice. Practices are open to the public and fans are encouraged to attend.

Check back daily for more position previews and once practice starts for recaps and interviews on Beaver Nation Online, the official audio/video source for Beaver Athletics.
