Track to Compete at Stanford and San Francisco State

CORVALLIS - The Oregon State women's track team heads to California this Friday, March 26 to participate in the Stanford Invitational and the San Francisco State Distance Carnival.
'We're really excited to be sending around 20 to compete in the Bay Area,' Oregon State track head coach Kelly Sullivan said. 'We have a good mix of people experienced runners and people making their first appearances this weekend. The Stanford Invitational is one of the largest distance meets in the country.'
The Stanford Invitational plays host to both collegiate and high school track programs competing in both running and field events. The Beavers will be participating in the 1,500 meter and the 5,000 meter runs.
Casey Masterson, Sylvia Veal and Laura Carlyle will be lining up for Oregon State in the 1,500 meter run. Masterson set the school record in the event last spring with a time of 4:25.81 at the Pac-10 Championships and it will be her first appearance of the spring track season. .
Lining up for the Beavers in the 5,000 meter run are Carlyle, Jennifer Macias, Sandra Martinez, Krista Stangel, Hayley Overson, and Abby Chesimet. The 5,000 meter section 4 will be run Friday morning with sections 1-3 Friday night.
The Beavers will also send participants to the San Francisco State Distance Carnival at Cox Stadium in San Francisco, Calif. With four competing in the 800 meter, Lauren Graebner in the 1,500 meter, six in the 2 mile, two in the 5,000 meter, and Olivia Poblacion in the 3,000 meter steeplechase.
Poblacion will compete in the 3,000 meter steeplechase for the first time in her career at Oregon State.
The schedule for the San Francisco State Distance Carnival has yet to be set but the schedule of Oregon State events at the Stanford Invitational is as follows:

8:23pm - Section 1
Women's 1,500 Meter
1:05pm - Sections 4-7
6:25pm - Section 3
6:32pm - Section 2
6:39pm - Section 1
