Beavers Set to Play at Anteater Invitational
March 26, 2010
The Oregon State women's golf team competes at the Anteater Invitational hosted by UC Irvine Monday and Tuesday, Mar. 29-30, at the Dove Canyon Country Club.
'We've had a good week of practice,' head coach Ris¸ Lakowske said. 'They're working hard. The last couple days we've practiced with a lot of wind and have had the opportunity to work on keeping the ball on a low trajectory, which we struggled with in our last tournament.'
The two-day, 54-hole tournament will include a 36-hole first day followed by the final 18 played Tuesday. Both days begin with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. The tourney will be played on the par-71, 5,960-yard course.
Participating teams include four top 50 teams including No. 38 UC Irvine, No. 40 Idaho, No. 43 San Francisco and No. 48 San Diego State. The field is rounded out by Cal State Fullerton, Cal State Northridge, Fresno State, Hawai'i, Kentucky, Long Beach State, Oregon State, Portland State, Sacramento State, Santa Clara and UC Riverside.
Six OSU golfer will make the trip to Southern California. Seniors Lauren Archer and Brittany Stewart, sophomores Whitney French and Elyse Okada and freshman Chelsey Lind will play for the team score in the 'play five, count four' format.
