No. 12 UCLA Cruises to 7-0 Victory over No. 21 Washington

SEATTLE - The No. 12 UCLA men's tennis team handed No. 21 Washington just its second loss of the season on Friday, as the Bruins posted a 7-0 victory over the Huskies at the Bill Quillian Courts in Seattle. With the win, UCLA moves to 9-4 overall and 1-0 in the Pac-10, while Washington falls to 15-2 and 0-1 in league play.

Playing just his second match every at the No. 1 singles postition, Bruin junior Nick Meister pulled off an upset on Friday, as he downed 54th-ranked Jeevan Nedunchezhiyan, 6-4, 6-7(2), (10-8). Meister, who is ranked No. 111 in the country, is now 2-0 at the top spot after also beating Wichita State's Sven Kasper on Tuesday.

Junior Amit Inbar was also impressive on Friday, notching a 6-4, 6-3 victory over Husky freshman Kyle McMorrow at court No. 2. It marked Inbar's first match at the No. 2 position this season. Both Inbar and Meister are tied for the team lead in singles victories with 17.

Maxime Tabatruong and Matt Brooklyn were straight-set winners on the day, while Holden Seguso and Alex Brigham each lost the second sets in their matches before coming back for wins.

UCLA swept doubles play for just the third time this season on Friday.

Next up for the Bruins is a showdown with Oregon on Saturday in Eugene. Match time is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
