Aronsson Comes On Strong At Longhorn Invitational
March 27, 2010
AUSTIN, Texas - Molly Aronsson shot an even-par 72 to move up 38 places in the standings and Karinn Dickinson is the highest Husky in 22nd place after two rounds of the Longhorn Invitational at the University of Texas Golf Club. Aronsson began the day in 63rd place and moved all the way up to 25th, while the Husky team dropped to 13th in the team standings.
UCLA leads the 16 team field by one stroke at +9 (585) over Arizona. Texas A&M is third (+13), TCU (+23) fourth and Oregon (+25) fifth. Washington is +44 (620).
While the Huskies as a group struggled, it was Aronsson and Dickinson that kept the Huskies afloat. Arosson, who shot a 7-over 79 on the first day of action, settled down in the second round and shot a 36 on both the front and back. She had two bogeys, but countered them with two birdies. Dickinson was even on the front nine but was 4-over on the back to finish with a 76 for the day.
The other three other Huskies never got things going on Saturday with Sadena Parks leading the final three players and finishing her round tied for 57th after shooting a 9-over 81.
Junior Anya Alvarez had a tough front nine and was 11-over at the turn, carding a bogey or worse on all but one of the holes. She settled down a little bit on the back nine, but ultimately ended her round with an uncharacteristic 14-over 86 and is tied for 79th.
Senior Christina Yoon shot a 16-over 88 and is 89th.
