Erdelyi And Shaw Shine At Stanford

USC's Zsofia Erdelyi bettered her school record in the 10000m race and Blake Shaw moved up among the USC all-time leaders list in the 1500m race to lead a small group of Trojan athletes at the Stanford Invitational in Palo Alto, Calif. on March 26-27.
Late on Friday night (March 26) Erdelyi took the track to run her first 10000m race of the season and she finished with a time of 33:18.75 which was good for fourth among collegiate runners in this stocked race, but also improved her school-record time. Erdelyi set the USC record in the event last July with a time of 33.39.89.
Earlier in the evening on Friday, Shaw placed third among college runners and seventh overall in the 1500m with a PR of 3:45.66. That time moved Shaw from seventh to sixth on USC's all-time list in the event, one week after moving from ninth to seventh on the list with a time of 3:47.49 at the Trojan Invitational.
Also on Friday, Judith Onyepunuka advanced to the women's 100m dash finals with a season-best time of 11.86, then placed fourth in the finals (third among college runners) with a time of 11.89. Elizabeth Olear also took four in the women's 400m with a time of 55.11.
Shalina Clarke had a time of 13.86 in the women's 100m hurdles on Friday to advance to Saturday's finals. In the finals she had a season-best time of 13.39 to finish second, 0.1 second behind winner Kimyon Broom of California.
Clarke teamed up with Onyepunuka, Olear and Myra Hasson to place third in the women's 4x100m race with a time of 45.51.
Shaw came back to run in the men's 800m on Saturday and placed 11th with a time of1:51.51. Teammate Nate Anderson placed ninth with a season-best time of 1:51.17.
Kathryn Daniels, from nearby Milpitas, Calif., competed in the hammer competition and placed eighth with a throw of 147-2 (44.86m).
