Stanford Lightweights Claim Fourth Straight A.W. Coggeshall Cup At San Diego Crew Classic

SAN DIEGO, Calif. - The Stanford lightweights finished a successful weekend of racing at the San Diego Crew Classic, capturing its fourth straight A.W. Coggeshall Cup.
'I'm really proud of the effort our 'A' boat showed in moving back on Tulsa in the last 500,' commented head coach Al Acosta. 'In the Cal Cup grand final the varsity lightweight eight worked in the pack of six openweight crews for the first 500.'
The lightweight 'B' boat claimed the Coggeshall Cup Saturday with a winning time of 7:13.50, 5.06 seconds ahead of Tulsa and 5.41 seconds ahead of Stanford's 'A' boat.In the openweight Cal Cup event, the Cardinal lightweights finished fourth with a time of 7:16.73. That time was 11.63 seconds back of the winning time set by San Diego.
The lightweights return to the water April 10 at Redwood Shores, taking on Princeton, Tulsa and Washington.
