March 29, 2010
Corvallis, Ore. – The Oregon State University women’s volleyball team led all of the school’s intercollegiate teams for winter term grade point average, marking the second consecutive term the team has paced the other sports. Head coach Taras Liskevych’s squad posted a 3.34 GPA, edging women’s soccer at 3.30.
Fourteen of the 16 student-athletes posted GPAs of 3.0 or higher with three earning perfect 4.0 marks during winter term. The same 14 all have cumulative GPAs of 3.0 or higher as well.
“I'm very proud of our student-athletes as they led the department academically for the second straight term, both in season and out of season,” Liskevych said. “We set a team and individual goal of a 3.0, and I am pleased to say that we have hit our team goal each term.”
Cross country/track remains the cumulative GPA leader for teams at 3.39 with volleyball at 3.37. Nine other teams own 3.00-plus cumulative GPAs, including women’s rowing (3.27), women’s soccer (3.23), men’s soccer (3.08), gymnastics (3.15), men’s golf (3.03), softball (3.13), women’s basketball (3.20), women’s golf (3.17) and swimming (3.14).
