Whitney French Tied for Fourth at Anteater Invitational

DOVE CANYON, Calif. -
Sophomore Whitney French is in fourth place after the first day of the Anteater Invitational hosted by UC Irvine. The OSU women's golf team is in 11th through the first 36 holes.
After the first round the Beavers were tied for fifth after combining for a 26-over 310. French led OSU in the morning round with a 1-over 72, Brittany Stewart was 7-over 78 and Lauren Archer shot an 8-over 79.
'We had a really good first round,' head coach Ris¸ Lakowske said. 'But we just didn't complete the day well. Whitney is playing very well and she has a good chance to win tomorrow.'
The afternoon round set Oregon State back to 11th after a 37-over 321 second round.
French finished the day tied for fourth at 5-over (72-75) 147 just four strokes off the pace. Stewart and Elyse Okada finished the day tied for 45th at 19-over (78-83) 161 and 19-over (81-80) 161. Archer is tied for 51st at 20-over (79-83) 162.
