Cal Baseball Defeats Fresno State, 8-5
BERKELEY - Cal freshman right fielder Jimmy Bosco broke a 5-5 tie with a two-run single in the bottom of the eighth inning to help lead the Golden Bears to an 8-5 victory over visiting Fresno State Tuesday, March 30 at Evans Diamond. Cal, which pounded out 16 hits off eight different Bulldog pitchers, improved to 13-10 overall, while Fresno State dropped to 13-12. Freshman left-hander Justin Jones (5-2) picked up the win in relief for the Bears and sophomore right-hander Matt Flemer earned his first save of the year. [Read more]

USC Wins At Loyola Marymount, 9-7
LOS ANGELES - Junior right-hander Chris Mezger (Boulder, Colo.) came into the first inning in relief Tuesday and threw four scoreless innings and allowed only one hit as the USC Trojans beat the Loyola Marymount Lions, 9-7, at George Page Stadium. USC trailed 4-2 after one inning, but came back with six unanswered runs to hold onto the victory as both teams now have a 13-12 record on the season. [Read more]
