Roeland Schaftenaar Named Academic All Pac-10 Conference

April 1, 2010

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - For the third time in his career, Oregon State senior Roeland Schaftenaar has been named to the Academic All Pac-10 Conference team as the center earned first-team honors the conference office announced on Thursday. Kevin McShane also earned academic all-league honors as the sophomore was an honorable mention selection.

Schaftenaar earns a first-team honor for the first time in his career after he was a second-team selection following his sophomore and junior seasons. He becomes only the second player in Oregon State history to be named to the team three times (Lamar Hurd, 2004-06) as the senior holds a 3.17 GPA in business administration.

The senior finished his Oregon State career with back-to-back selections to the all-conference squad as he earned honorable mention honors this year after averaging 10.2 points and 4.2 rebounds per game.

McShane earns his first all-academic selection as the sophomore forward carries a 3.09 GPA with an undeclared major. The sophomore forward appeared in 20 contests this season, averaging 1.2 points and 1.1 rebounds per game.

Oregon State was one of four schools to have at least two members on the 11-player all-academic squad.
