Women's Basketball Places Four on Pac-10 All-Academic Team

April 1, 2010

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - Washington State University women's basketball student-athletes Katie Calderwood, Katie Grad, Lexie Pettersen and Rosie Tarnowski were each named Pacific-10 Conference All-Academic honorable mention, Commissioner Larry Scott announced today.

'We are proud of our student-athletes selected to the prestigious Pac-10 All-Academic Team,' WSU Head Coach June Daugherty said. 'Our priorities as a basketball program begin with our team working toward the highest grade-point average of any athletics team at WSU. We expect our student-athletes to compete in the classroom as hard as they do on the basketball court. This is an outstanding honor for our University and our team.'

Calderwood, a junior from Broomfield, Colo., was also named honorable mention following the 2008-09 season. The academic honor is the first for sophomores Pettersen (Spokane, Wash.) and Tarnowski (Philadelphia, Pa.), and Grad, a redshirt freshman from Lake Tapps, Wash.

To be eligible for selection to the academic team, a student-athlete must have a minimum 3.0 overall grade-point average and be either a starter or significant contributor.

Daugherty's student-athletes have garnered a combined eight Pac-10 All-Academic honors since her arrival prior to the 2007-08 season.
