Cal and Miami are the last two teams remaining out of the original field of 64 teams. Both teams flew to Oakland on the same plane Friday morning from Chicago. Miami stayed over in Chicago after defeating Michigan, waiting to see if they would be going to Illinois State or flying out to California to take on the Bears. Cal bused to Chicago after their Thursday night game at Illinois State, got a couple of hours of sleep, and then took the first flight home Friday morning.
This will be the first-ever meeting between the two schools. Cal has played one other ACC schools this season, falling 81-69 to Boston College at the Surf `n Slam Tournament in San Diego just after Christmas.
Cal has won five straight games, their third five-game winning streak of the season. The Bears have won 11 of their last 14 games, with two of those losses coming against No. 2 Stanford. Cal has gone 17-5 since dropping three straight games to start the Pac-10 season.
Cal's victory over Utah was the 20th win of the season, the first time in program history the Bears have put together four consecutive seasons of 20 or more wins. The 2009-10 season also marked the fifth consecutive season that Cal has been involved in post-season play, another program-best streak.
This is the first time Cal has won five post-season games. Their previous best was the two victories that sent them to the NCAA Sweet-16 last season.

In total, the Bears have pulled in 84 more rebounds than their opponents during the WNIT (+16.8 per game)
Freshman forward Gennifer Brandon's 285 rebounds this season ranks eighth in the Cal record book for single-season totals. She needs one to move into seventh, three to rank sixth, and eight to rank fifth.
Freshman center Talia Caldwell has had back-to-back games pulling in double digit rebounds with 11 against BYU and 12 at Illinois State. She also had 11 rebounds against Utah, giving her double-digit rebounds in three of her five WNIT games. She is averaging 7.8 rpg in the tournament.
