Three GymDawgs Named To Pac-10 All-Academic First Team

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - A total of seven Washington gymnasts were named to the Pac-10 All-Academic teams on Friday, including three who were named to the first team.
Juniors Karen Cain and Samantha Walior and sophomore Ruby Engreitz were all named to the first team as UW was one of two teams to put three on the team. Juniors Haley Bogart and Kristen Linton were also named to the second team while sophomores Amanda Cline and Anna Epps were named honorable mention.
The Huskies tied with Stanford for the most athletes across all three teams. The seven total honorees are the most for the Huskies since 2003 when they had eight named to the teams, the most in school history.
Cain and Walior were both named to the first team for the second straight season. Cain is a Political Science major with a 3.82 grade-point average who will actually graduate early in June and join the Teach for America program. Walior is a Finance major with a 3.72 GPA while Engreitz, named to All-Academic team for the first time, has a 3.66 GPA in Architecture.
Bogart and Linton, meanwhile, were each named to the second team for the second straight year. Bogart carries a 3.47 in Business Administration while Linton has a 3.44 in Law, Societies and Justice.
Making the honorable mention team for their first time were Cline, who has a 3.01 in Political Science, and Epps, who carries a 3.07 in pre-science.
The GymDawgs head to Salt Lake City, Utah, next week to compete in the NCAA Regionals on Saturday, April 10 at 5 p.m. PT.
