Stanford's Haber Named Pac-10 Softball Player of the Week; Washington's Lawrie Named Pac-10 Softball Pitcher of the Week

WALNUT CREEK, Calif.- STANFORD senior outfielder Alissa Haber was named Pac-10 Softball Player of the Week and WASHINGTON senior pitcher Danielle Lawrie was named Pac-10 Softball Pitcher of the Week for March 29-April 4, Commissioner Larry Scott announced today.
Haber, a native of Newark, Calif., led the Cardinal at the dish to a 2-1 series victory over Bay Area rival California. She led the squad with a .455 batting average for the weekend, tallying five hits, including two doubles and two RBI overall. In the second game of the series on Friday, April 2, Haber went 1-for-3 with an RBI double in the second inning to give the Cardinal a 2-0 lead which it never relinquished, going on to win 5-1. For the weekend, Haber had an on-base percentage of .538 and a slugging percentage of .636. She was also the only Cardinal to record at least one hit in every game this weekend. On the season Haber leads the team with a .480 batting average
Lawrie shut down the then-No.5 ranked UCLA Bruins, who came into the three game series over the weekend with the nation’s second-best batting average in the country. She held the Bruins to just two total runs in 19.1 innings to earn two victories. After dropping a close, 1-0 game in which she tallied 11 strikeouts, Lawrie game back strong in game two, throwing 9.1 scoreless innings over the final game-and-a-half, allowing just three hits, striking out 15 and walking one. She tallied 28 strikeouts overall over the weekend, allowing only 10 hits and six walks. Overall Lawrie is 20-2 on the season with a 0.94 ERA and 223 strikeouts to just 14 walks.
This is Haber’s second Player of the Week selection and Stanford’s 47th honor overall. For Lawrie, this is her 13th Pitcher of the Week selection overall, third this season and Washington’s 74th overall.
