Buffs Host CU Invitational on Friday and Saturday
BOULDER - The University of Colorado track and field team will host the CU Invitational on Friday and Saturday, April 9-10, at Potts Field.
The 2010 outdoor campaign has gotten out to a slow start for the Buffs after having meets canceled the first two weekends of the season including the Potts Invitational on March 20. Most of the squad was able to compete for the first time last weekend at the Tom Benich Classic in Greeley, Colo., but this will be the only chance for CU to compete on its own track this season.
The schedule looks slightly different this year as the hammer throws will be contested on Friday. The women will throw first at 2 p.m. and the men will follow. Saturday will start at 10 a.m. with the women's javelin throw and the women's pole vault and long jump will start at 11 a.m. The track events will start with the women's steeplechase at 2 p.m. The final event, the men's 4x400-meter relay, is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
The Buffaloes will host several Front Range schools on Saturday. Adams State, Air Force, Colorado State, Colorado College, Colorado School of Mines, Colorado State-Pueblo, Community College of Aurora, Metro State, UC-Colorado Springs, Western State and Northern Colorado will represent the local schools while Chadron State and several unattached competitors will also participate.
The forecast for Friday is mostly sunny with a high of 62 F and Saturday's outlook is partly cloudy with a high of 63 F (as of Thursday afternoon). Should inclement weather force a cancellation of the meet, such notice will be posted on www.CUBuffs.com as well as a message left on the track and field office voice mail at 303/492-5227.
Parking and admission are free for the event. Results will be updated online on the schedule page throughout the meet. The schedule of events for the Potts Invitational is listed below:
