No. 11 California Falls to 13th After Second Round of PING/ASU Invitational

The No. 11 California Golden Bears fell into a tie for 13th place after a challenging second round at the PING/ASU Invitational. The Bears, who were in 11th place among the 17 teams in the field after day one, added seven strokes to their second round score, coming in with a 303. They are tied for 13th place with Tulsa at 599, three strokes behind 12th place Texas. The host school, Arizona State, continues to lead the tournament at 565.

Sophomore Joanne Lee once again had the low round for the Bears, shooting a 74 (+2) and is tied for 18th overall at even par (144). Senior Roseanne Niven and junior Pia Halbig had identical scores for the second straight day, both coming in at four-over (76) after both shot 74's in the opening round.

Kristina Merkle, who ended the first round in a tie for first, holds sole possession of first place after 36 holes at seven-under.

The tournament, played at the 6,230 yard par-72 Karsten Golf Course in Tempe, Ariz. wraps up with the final round of 18 holes on Sunday morning. The first players tee off at 7:30 a.m. local time. Live scoring will be available though Golfstat.
