No. 8 Stanford Captures 30th Win At Oregon State

CORVALLIS, Ore. - The No. 8 Stanford softball team earned its 30th win of the season, Saturday, defeating Oregon State, 1-0, at the OSU Softball Complex in Corvallis, Ore. The Cardinal improves to 4-1 in the Pac-10 and 30-5 overall, while the Beavers drop to 20-18 on the season and 1-4 in the conference.
Freshman Teagan Gerhart earned the win, pushing her season record to 22-4. The rookie struck out five batters, while giving up just three hits and no runs. Oregon State's Paige Hall took the loss, falling to 14-15 on the season.
Five different Stanford players registered a hit, Saturday, while Gerhart scored the lone run of the day.
The Cardinal plated one run in the top of the fifth inning, which was enough for the win. Gerhart reached on a fielder's choice and then stole second base to move into scoring position. Sophomore Sarah Hassman reached on a fielding error by OSU second baseman Maggie Doremus, which allowed Gerhart to score from second.
Stanford and Oregon State will wrap up the series, Sunday, at the OSU Softball Complex in Corvallis, Ore. First pitch is scheduled for 11 a.m.
