Stephen Paea Named to Lott Trophy Watch List

Oregon State University senior defensive tackle Stephen Paea (PIE-uh) has been named to the 2010 Lott Trophy Watch List, it was announced Thursday in Newport Beach by former NFL standout Ronnie Lott and the Pacific Club IMPACT Foundation.
Paea is a 6-1, 311-pound senior from Los Altos, Calif., who was the co-recipient of the Morris Trophy as the outstanding defensive lineman in the Pac-10 Conference last season. The 2010 All-America candidate has 19.5 career tackles-for-loss and was an all-conference selection last year. Paea participated in “Learning Through Listening”, a program that studies Native American issues in Oregon, and has also been involved in several community service events such as working with the Boys and Girls Club.
Sponsored by The Pacific Club IMPACT Foundation, the award is given to a player who exhibit’s the same characteristics Lott embodied during his distinguished career: Integrity, Maturity, Performance, Academics, Community and Tenacity.
Voters for the award include selected members of the national media, previous finalists, members of the Pacific Club IMPACT Foundation Board of Directors, the Legends Coaches and distinguished alumni of various schools around the nation.
The winner, who will be announced at the annual black-tie gala in December, receives $25,000 for his school’s general scholarship fund. Three runnerups each receive $5,000.
