No. 2 Stanford Lightweight Women Defeat No. 7 MIT

April 18, 2010

BOSTON, Mass. - In their second day of racing on the Charles River, two Stanford lightweight eights notched openwater wins over MIT. In slow head wind conditions both Stanford eights were able to gain early advantages and push hard in the second half to extend their lead over trailing MIT.

'It was good to see the JV eight go after it today,' said lightweight head coach Al Acosta. 'They regrouped after yesterday's effort, and came through with a solid race. As a team we need to continue to improve to get where we want to go, so we're looking forward to going back to the Port of Redwood City and getting back to work.'

The Stanford lightweights will return to action in two weeks, taking on California at The Big Row at Redwood Shores on Saturday, May 1.
