April 20, 2010
Sophomore Jennifer Song and senior Belen Mozo remain the top 10 after two rounds of the 2010 Pac-10 Women's Golf Championships, leading the No. 4 USC women's golf team as it remains in the hunt for the program's fourth conference title at the Eugene (Ore.) C.C., on Tuesday (April 20).
The Trojans, seeking their second conference crown in the last three years, fell seven strokes off the pace during a cold, rainy day of play. USC is now in fourth at 18-over 594 (284-310). No. 2 UCLA is in first (587) with No. 8 Arizona second (590) and No. 17 California in third (592). After USC, Oregon is fifth (599), Washington sixth (610), No. 13 Stanford seventh (617), Oregon State eighth (646) and Washington State ninth (647). Top-ranked Arizona State was disqualified from the event after losing two of its five golfers to a severe illness. Teams need four players to complete a round.
Song is tied for sixth at 2-over 146 (70-76) while Mozo is tied for eighth at 3-over 147 (72-75). Song bogeyed four of the first five holes but leveled off after that, finishing the final 13 holes at par. Mozo was par through 10 holes before dropping three strokes on the back 9.
Junior Lizette Salas is tied for 23rd at 8-over 152 (69-83), freshman Cyna Rodriguez is tied for 26th at 9-over 153 (73-80) and senior Caroline Kim is tied for 29th at 11-over 155 (76-79). Kim and Rodriguez were a combined 14-over on the front 9, but rallied to combine for 1-over on the back 9.
