Hall Wins Pitchers' Duel in Season Series Sweep over Portland State

April 21, 2010

Portland, Ore. – Sophomore Paige Hall (Portland, Ore.) scattered two hits, striking out four, in the Oregon State softball team’s (22-21) season series sweep of Portland State (16-24) in a 2-1 decision on Wednesday evening at Erv Lind Stadium.

The two teams battled back and forth through five scoreless innings in exactly one hour of play before Portland State scored a run on a RBI double to left center.

Down to their final three outs, the Beavers started off hot with junior Audrey Roderfeld (Vista, Calif.) leading off the seventh with a single and freshman Ally Kutz (Mt. Vernon, Wash.) following right behind with a single of her own. Freshman Maggie Doremus (San Diego, Calif.) bunted both runners into scoring position with sophomore Nicole Luchanski (Edmonton, Alberta) and freshman Kilee Lippincott (Lake Chelan, Wash.) coming in the game to pinch run.

On a full count, sophomore Ashley Sanchez (Alameda, Calif.) ripped one down the left field line to score the go-ahead run and give the Beavers the 2-1 lead heading into the final half inning.

Hall improves to 16-16 on the season. Portland State’s Tori Rogers was the pitcher of record, throwing two full innings, making her record 3-10 on the season.
