Men's Tennis Singled Out at Pac-10 Championships

OJAI, Calif. - The California men's tennis team had its three representatives eliminated from contention in the singles field of the 2010 Pac-10 Championships at the Libbey Park tennis courts in Ojai, Calif. on Thursday, April 22. Senior Bijan Hejazi, junior Bozhidar Katsarov and sophomore Sky Lovill were each defeated in straight sets in the singles round of 32.
Lovill faced the seventh seed in the first round and fought out a tough match with No. 18-ranked Nick Meister of UCLA before bowing out, 6-2, 6-2. Katsarov drew the eighth seed in No. 92-ranked Daniel Nguyen of USC and stayed close before Nguyen put away a 6-3, 6-3 win to advance to the round of 16. Hejazi also took on a USC player but was eliminated as Peter Lucassen prevailed, 6-0, 6-1.
Katsarov and Lovill will team up for the first time in their careers to face the third-seeded and No. 75-ranked doubles team of Kyle McMorrow and Jeevan Nedunchezhiyan of Washington in a 9 a.m. PT match at the Libbey Park courts on Friday, April 23.
