IRVING, Texas - University of Colorado senior tennis student-athlete Monica Milewski was named the Big 12 Conference Women's Player of the Week for matches played between April 19-25.
The Big 12 weekly honor for Milewski was her third overall and first conference player of the week honor since the 2007 spring, where she was the only one to be named twice that season.
Milewski, ranked No. 93 nationally, pulled three upsets over the week.
Against Texas A&M, the senior swept straight sets (6-3, 7-5) against No. 59 Elz+¬ Potgieter. Milewski rallied from a 5-2 deficit in the second set.
She continued her performance with another straight-set win (6-2, 6-4) against Texas' 23rd-ranked Aeriel Ellis. In doubles action, she and teammate Melisa Esposito upset the 'Horns No. 51 Ellis and Vanja Corovic.
Milewski improved to an 8-1 record at the No. 1 singles spot in league action. She has won 13 of her last 15 singles matches.
