PULLMAN, Wash. - In recognition of 20 years of women's varsity rowing at Washington State University, wsucougars.com will be the place to go to this week for features and podcasts from and about important figures, both past and present, in the Cougar rowing program.

A feature, entitled `20 Years Later' was posted on the website Monday, explaining the history of the rowing program and how women's rowing went from a club sport to a varsity sports. Former rowing coach Tammy Crawford, former senior associate athletics director Marcia Saneholtz, current coach Jane LaRiviere and former rower and current assistant coach Corrie McGrath weigh in with their thoughts and memories from the last 20 years.

With that, three separate podcasts with Saneholtz, Crawford and LaRiviere will be posted on the website as well. The podcast with Saneholtz was posted Tuesday and today wsucougars.com will continue with the post of Crawford's podcast. Crawford was called on to take over the women's rowing program at WSU when it became a varsity sport and coached for 12 seasons before stepping down prior to the 2002-03 season. Crawford competed as a club rower for the Cougars from 1981 to 1984, and graduated from WSU in 1985 with a bachelor's degree in biology and secondary education.

She began her coaching career in 1986 as the novice coach of the WSU club team. In 1987, Crawford moved to Seattle where she completed an internship as a graduate assistant coach with the novice crew at Washington. In 1988, she became the full-time novice coach for the Huskies and spent the following three years coaching first-year college rowers. She currently works in the sport management department at Washington State.

Events will take place Friday and Saturday for the 20 years of rowing celebration. Friday evening will feature a social held at the new Barbara and Tom Wilson Indoor Rowing Tank in the Bohler Athletic Complex. All are invited to join Saturday at Wawawai Landing to cheer on the 2010 team as it competes against Oregon State. The races will be followed by a recreational row for all alumnae who would like to get out on the Snake River. The weekend concludes Saturday with a celebratory banquet and reunion for all former athletes, coaches, friends and family, including original club team members from the 1970s and 1980s.
