Exhibition Schedule Set For Santa Clara
May 2, 2010
Husky volleyball has firmed up its spring scrimmage schedule, setting the specific dates and times for four match-ups with Santa Clara. The two home scrimmages will both be open to the public.
Washington will take its first road trip of the year next weekend down to Santa Clara for a pair of matches. The first will be on Friday, May 7 in the evening with an afternoon match the next day, May 8.
One week later Santa Clara will return the favor with a trip up to Seattle for two more encounters. On Friday, May 14, the Huskies will host the Broncos at 7 p.m., then turn around quickly for the 11 a.m. finale on Saturday morning. The main floor of Hec-Ed Pavilion is currently being refinished. As long as the process is complete by May 14, the teams will play on the main court. If not, the teams will utilize the Marv Harshman Court, adjacent to Hec-Ed on the north side.
The Huskies are about halfway through their spring practice season which began the second week of April. As usual, head coach Jim McLaughlin and staff have brought a high-level of intensity to the late afternoon workouts. All-America middle blocker Amanda Gil has joined the team and made a major impact in practice on a daily basis. Gil won't be able to participate in the scrimmages, however. Other storylines to watch when SCU visits is All-American Bianca Rowland potentially getting some game action at outside hitter, and how Kelly Holford, Kandiss Anderson, and Jenna Orlandini compete at the libero spot with Tamari Miyashiro moving on to the national team.
