Brewer Named Semifinalist For Strickland Award

USC assistant golf coach Josh Brewer has been named a semifinalist for the 2010 Jan Strickland Award presented by TaylorMade-adidas Golf. The Golf Coaches Association of America has annually presented the Jan Strickland Award since 2003 to the NCAA Division I, II, III, NAIA or NJCAA assistant coach that has excelled in working with their student-athletes both on the course and in the classroom.
Brewer, in his second season at USC, coached at his alma mater, Indiana, for six seasons before coming to Troy. He has helped guide three women's and three men's All-Americans as well as men's and women's Pac-10 Players and Freshmen of the Year.
A total of 10 coaches were named semifinalists. The other semifinalists are South Carolina's Michael Burcin, Jordan Byrd of Clemson, Washington's Garrett Clegg, Corey Maggard of Transylvania, Florida State's Chris Malloy, Marty McCauley of Texas Tech, Hastings' Lloyd McIntyre, Shane Warren of LSU and Michigan's Chris Whitten.
The finalists for the Strickland Award will be announced on May 12, and the recipient will be revealed on June 1. The Strickland Award winner will earn an invitation to the TaylorMade-adidas Golf Kingdom in Carlsbad, Calif., to help further his professional development.
